A Business Day in Qianhai, There and Back by Car
Leave Hong Kong after breakfast, hold two meetings and a lunch across the border, and be home for dinner: how to plan the day.
Information
Border traffic: allow extra time during Golden Week
Qianhai, on the western edge of Shenzhen, is close to the Shenzhen Bay crossing, which makes it one of the easiest mainland business districts to reach from Hong Kong by road.
Morning
Book an early pick-up. Early departures usually face shorter queues, and arriving before your first meeting leaves time to find the right tower and lift lobby.
During the day
Set up mobile payments before you go: the main mainland apps accept Hong Kong and international cards. Buy a data roaming pass, and keep receipts in the form your company needs for expenses.
Coming back
Plan the return before the evening rush, and give the driver the pick-up address in Chinese. On public holidays, allow much more time in both directions.
